Nicolás Pérez de la Blanca Capilla, received the M.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Granada in 1975 and the Ph.D. degree from the same University in 1979. His research areas have involved, data analysis, biomedical image processing, pattern recognition and image classification. He has co-authored more than fifty research papers in these areas. Now he is Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Granada and the head of the Visual Information Processing Group at this University. His current interest in research is the use of machine learning in the processing of images and video and the classification of medical images..

Rafael Molina was born in 1957. He received the M.S. degree in mathematics (statistics) in 1979 and the Ph.D. degree in optimal design in linear models in 1983, both from the University of Granada. He became Professor of computer science and artificial intelligence at the University of Granada, Granada, Spain, in 2000. His areas of research interest are image restoration (applications to astronomy and medicine), parameter estimation, image and video compression, and image and video super resolution.

Javier Mateos was born in Granada, Spain, in 1968. He received his degree in Computer Science from the University of Granada in 1991. He completed his Ph. D. in Computer Science at the same University in July 1998. He has been assistant professor since October 1992 at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Granada. On March 2001 he became a permanent associate professor.

He is conducting his research on image and video processing, including image restoration, image and video recovery and compression and super-resolution from (compressed) stills and video sequences.

He is a member of the AERFAI (Asociación Española de Reconocimento de Formas y Análisis de Imágenes) and IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition).

Jesús Chamorro was born in 1972. He received the MS and PhD degrees, both in Computer Science, from the University of Granada in 1995 and 2001 respectively. Since 1996, he is member of the Computer Science Department at the University of Granada where he is now an Associate Professor. His research interests include motion analysis and optical flow estimation, information retrieval from image databases, soft computing image processing, and biomedical image analysis. He has participated in several projects from the Spanish Research Council (CICYT) and currently he is participating in the Spanish FIS project “Imagen Médica Molecular y Multimodalidad” (IM3).

Antonio López Fernández was born in 1964. He received the B.S. in Physics with specialization in Electronic (1988) and the Ph.D degree in Computer Science (2002), both from the University of Granada, Spain. He is currently professor at the Department of Software Engineering at the University of Granada. His areas of interest include image restoration, nuclear medicine imaging and parameter estimation. He has participated in different research projects supported by the Spanish Research Funding Agency CICYT and he is participating in the Spanish FIS project "Imagen Médica Molecular y Multimodalidad".

Belén Prados was born in 1978. She received the MS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Granada in 2001. Currently she is a Grant holder of the Computer Science Department at the University of Granada, where she is also carrying out his PhD studies. Her research interests includes information retrieval from image databases and soft computing image processing. Currently she is participating in the Spanish FIS project “Imagen Médica Molecular y Multimodalidad” (IM3).

Manuel Jesús Marín Jiménez was born in Jaén, Spain, in 1980. He received the MS Degree in Computer Science from the University of Granada in 2003. Currently, he is assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Numerical Analysis of the University of Córdoba, Spain. His research interests include object detection and recognition in still images and human motion description and recognition in video sequences. He is member of Visual Information Processing group, AERFAI and IEEE CS.

José Manuel Soto Hidalgo was born in Canillas de Aceituno (Málaga), Spain, in 1981. He received his MS Degree in Computer Science in 2004 from the University of Granada, Spain. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student of the Visual Information Processing group, at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Granada, where he enjoys a pre-doctoral fellowship. His research interests include image retrieval in multimedia data bases and softcomputing applied to image processing.

was born in 1956 in Spain. He received the Bachelor Physics degree from the Universidad de Granada, Granada, Spain, in 1979 and the Ph.D. degree from the Universidad de Granada in 1984. He is with the E.T.S. Ing. Informática of the Universidad de Granada (Department of Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos), where he is Associate Professor and teaches software engineering. His research focuses on image processing (multichannel and superresolution image reconstruction). He has collaborated at several projects from the Spanish Research Council.

Pedro Manuel Martinez-Jimenez was born in Pedro Martinez, Granada, Spain, in 1977. He received the M.S. degree in telecommunications engineering from the University of Malaga, in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Granada, in 2012. From 2001 to 2005, he worked for a telecommunications company as a Sales Engineer. In 2006, he joined the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, University of Granada, as a Researcher, and since 2018, he has been with the Department of Automation, Electronics, and Computer Architecture and Networks, University of Cadiz, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. His research interests include static image processing, texture feature extraction and modeling, semantic image labeling, and image retrieval in multimedia databases, and he has published more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences in these fields.

Pablo Ruiz Matarán was born in Granada in 1982. He received the MS Degree in Mathematics in 2008 and Master in Multimedia Technologies in 2009, both from University of Granada. Currently, he is Ph.D. student of the Visual Information Processing group, at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Granada, and he is participating in the Spanish research programme Consolider Ingenio 2010: Multimodal Interaction in Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision (MIPRCV). His research interest include super-resolution and classification of multispectral satellite images, video retrieval from video databases and fusion of visible-infrared images.

Juan G. Serra received the degree in telecommunications engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Valéncia in 2014 and the M.S. degree in data science and computer engineering from the University of Granada in 2016, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree, under the supervision of Prof.Molina, being a member of the Visual Information Processing Group, Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. His research interests focus on the use of Bayesian modeling and inference to solve different inverse problems related to dictionary learning, image restoration and machine learning. During his research,he has addressed several problems, such as blind image deconvolution, image denoising, and inpainting and multispectral image classification.

Pablo Morales-Alvarez received the B.Sc. degree in Maths from the University of Granada(UGR), Spain, in 2014. He obtained the First End of Studies Award by the Spanish Ministry of Science to the most outstanding undergraduate in mathematics. Then, he received the M.Sc.degrees in Mathematical Physics (2015) and Data Science (2016), both from UGR. Funded by the highly competitive Ph.D. fellowship from La Caixa Foundation, he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree at UGR under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Molina, co-supervised by Prof. Aggelos K. Katsaggelos (Northwestern University, USA). He was selected (15% international acceptance ratio) to attend the 2017 Machine Learning Summer School at the MPI for Intelligent Systems at Tübingen (Germany), organized by Prof. Bernhard Schölkopf’s group. He was visiting the Machine Learning Group at the University of Cambridge (UK) for five months between 2019 and 2020, to work with Prof. José Miguel Hernández-Lobato and his team. In March 2020 he was selected for an internship at Microsoft Research Cambridge (UK) to work with Cheng Zhang. He has served as a reviewer for top-tier conferences (ICML 2020, NeurIPS2020, also invited for ICLR 2021), and journals (Science). His main research interests are probabilistic machine learning methods, specially (Deep) Gaussian Processes and Bayesian Neural Networks, and their applications to crowdsourcing and citizen science problems.

Miguel López-Pérez received the B.Sc. degree in mathematics and the M.S. degree in data science and computer engineering from the Universidad de Granada, Granada, Spain, in 2017 and 2018, respectively, where he is pursuing the Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Molina and Prof.Katsaggelos. His research interests focus on the use of Bayesian modeling, especially the Gaussian processes and their application to image processing, computer vision, and classification problems, working usually with medical imaging problems.

Fernando Pérez Bueno received the degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad de Granada in 2015 and the M.S. degree in Data Science and Computer Engineering from the University of Granada in 2019. He started the Ph.D. degree in 2018 at the University of Granada under the supervision of Prof. Molina and Prof. Naranjo (Polytechnic University of Valencia). During his research, he has addressed several problems, such as blind image deconvolution, image denoising, and image classification, applied to histopathological medical images.

Arne Schmidt studied Mathematics and received his Bachelor degree at the Freie Universität Berlin in 2015 and his master degree at the Technische Universität Berlin in 2018. After working as a programmer in the field of deep learning, he started his PhD in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Molina. His research interests are probabilistic deep learning, Gaussian processes, crowdsourcing with applications to medical images. The PhD is part of the CLARIFY project which focuses on digital pathology for cancer classification.

Míriam Mengíbar Rodríguez was born in 1996. She received his MS Degree in Computer Science in 2018 from the University of Granada, Spain. She obtained a Master Degree in Data Science in 2019 by the University of Granada too. Currently, she is a PhD student researching in Deep Learning. The aim of her thesis is builiding new neural networks architectures to improve their interpretability. Her research interests also include soft computing applied to image processing.

Alba Morquecho achieved her B.Sc degree in 2019 by Complutense University of Madrid. In 2021, she achieved her M.Sc. degree in Physics and Mathematics, specializing in Biomathematics in the University of Granada where she has been recently hired for participating in projects of artificial intelligence oriented to the classification of histological images. She has been involved in the divulgation and pedagogy of science and her actual interests go along with the applications of bioinformatics.

Francisco Miguel Castro Macías obtained the degree in Computer Science and the degree in Mathematics from the University of Granada in 2021, where he received the ex aequo award for the best Final Degree Project in the Degree in Computer Science. Then, he obtained the Master's Degree in Data Science and Computer Engineering in 2022. He was selected to attend the 2022 "Blas Cabrera" Summer School organized by the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (awarded to the best university graduates in the country). He is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Molina Soriano and Pablo Morales Álvarez. The aim of his thesis is the development of new deep probabilistic models for image restoration, deconvolution and classification under weak labeling paradigms, with application to medical imaging.

Francisco Javier Sáez Maldonado achieved in 2021 his two B.Sc degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics in the University of Granada. Then, he coursed the Master's Degree in Data Science at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where he developed a great interest in probabilistic machine learning and specifically in Gaussian Processes, leading to his Master's thesis in Transformed Gaussian Processes. He was hired in 2022 to work in proposing new Bayesian models and their application in medical images.
